3. The Magnificent Seven
Its no easy feat remaking an iconic film like The Magnificent Seven; there's no replacing actors like Steve McQueen, Yul Brynner or James Coburn, and the original is a near perfect example of a boys own Western. Theyre going to give it an honest try anyway, with Antoine Fuqua directing a cast which includes Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Chris Pratt and Lee Byung-hun; which isnt a shabby line-up. The Western has made a small comeback in recent years (Hateful Eight, Bone Tomahawk) so its nice to see Hollywood giving the ailing genre a glitzy all-star reboot. The bone of contention once again is that its a remake of a classic which doesnt need a remake (though to be fair, the original was a remake of The Seven Samurai) and despite the cast, nobody is talking about it. Still, Washington alone should be enough of a draw for audiences to give the movie a try, and all it needs is a great trailer to get people buzzing about it.
