10 Upcoming Comic Book Movies No One Needs Or Wants

2. Untitled Animated Spider-Man Movie

While the live-action Spider-Man movie at least has some potential, what reason is there to be excited over an animated feature starring the wall-crawler? The fact that The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are attached to write a treatment and produce is no doubt at least somewhat exciting, but what real need is there for this to even exist? It's hard to think of a single Spidey adventure, villain, or supporting character who could take centre stage here that wouldn't work in some way in live-action. Perhaps like LEGO Batman it will be aimed at children, but that doesn't feel like a valid excuse to make it. There's no doubt that Sony focusing on this instead of the various live-action spinoffs (Sinister Six and Venom) is a good thing, but if they botch it, it could prove to be extremely damaging to the efforts Marvel are going to to repair Spider-Man's shattered image. With the best will in the world, it's hard to describe this movie as anything other than pointless!
