8. Gambit
Do you know how Channing Tatum managed to land the lead role in Gambit? By saying he liked the character in an interview. On that basis alone, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner gave him a call, and this confusing spinoff was soon given a green light by 20th Century Fox. How this particular C-List mutant will fill two hours is anyone's guess. It has some things going for it though, including a story treatment written by veteran comic book writer Chris Claremont and - believe it or not - Tatum, who has impressed not only in the Jump Street movies, but also with a superb turn earlier this year in Foxcatcher. Of all the X-Men though, Gambit is arguably the least deserving of a solo movie. Unlike Deadpool and Wolverine, he's just not interesting enough to warrant one, and the same could be said for most of the X-Men. Either way, expect this movie to be full of cameos and a lack of anything fans love about the character from the comics (this is Fox after all).
