10 Upcoming Horror Movie Rumours We Hope Are True

2. Kevin Bacon as Freddy Krueger

Constantine Keanu Reeves
New Line Cinema

There's no denying that horror fans have been burned before (sorry) by the promise of a new face for Freddy Krueger.

Scream helmer Wes Craven's iconic nightmare demon is one of slasher cinema's greatest villains and most iconic fright-mongers... when played by Robert Englund, that is.

But whilst Watchmen’s Jackie Earle Haley sounded perfect for the part, 2010’s reboot nonetheless turned out to be a laughably bad, self-serious turkey.

Still, Stir of Echoes star Kevin Bacon seems like an ideal fit for the part, and the actor recently returned to horror with Blumhouse’s You Should Have Left. He’s also got original actor Robert Englund’s enthusiastic seal of approval, with Englund comments about his potential replacement in a rebooted version of the series being the source of this rumour.

Englund thinks he'd be a perfect fit and says Bacon is apparently up for it, so as long as no one calls the infamous remake's helmer Samuel Bayer this one could potentially still be great news.
