6. Evil Dead Rises Again
Like the deadites themselves, it seems that the Evil Dead franchise just refuses to stay dead.
With a trilogy, a remake, and a fully-wrapped TV show under its name, it seemed that Evil Dead was done and dusted. However, in a recent interview, Bruce Campbell has stated that a new Evil Dead movie – Evil Dead Rise - is on its way and they’re currently maneuvering around pre-production.
"We’re honing-in, circling the building now trying to lock in a partner.”, said Campbell, “We have a couple of bidders and we’re trying to just find the correct suitor and we have a script written and a director picked. Sam Raimi hand-picked a guy named Lee Cronin, who’s a very good Irish filmmaker. And it’s got a very good modern tale. It’s a modern-day urban ‘Evil Dead,’ it’s called ‘Evil Dead Rise.’ And we’re hoping to do that next year."
Although Campbell says that the film is still in draft stage, he has revealed important points about the movie such as a female heroine, the plot taking place in a city instead of a cabin, and it isn’t tied to the last Evil Dead movie directed by Fede Alvarez. Development isn’t going to start until 2021, but it has the horror community on tenterhooks anyways.
