10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Really Aren't Wanted

1. Bloodshot 2

Face Off
Columbia Pictures

Based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name, Bloodshot was produced with the intent of starting a Marvel-esque cinematic universe.

The film follows Vin Diesel as U.S. Marine Ray Garrison, a man who is essentially turned into the Terminator by a shady tech organisation, who - unbeknownst to Garrison - is manipulating his memories to turn him into a merciless killing machine.

Bloodshot was one of the first movies to be badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the movie's theatrical run being cut short by the widespread closure of cinemas. It lost money because of this, but regardless, a sequel is still on the way.

Why It Isn't Wanted

The pandemic is often used as an excuse for why Bloodshot underperformed, and while there's obviously some truth in that assessment, the reality is that it's a terrible movie that wouldn't have set the world on fire even under normal circumstances.

The people who actually saw Bloodshot did not have nice things to say about it: its action scenes were a headache to watch, and Diesel failed to deliver as a likeable and engaging lead.

You can't get people hyped for a cinematic universe when your first foot forward is a slip and a tumble (just ask Tom Cruise's The Mummy), and Bloodshot simply wasn't good enough to make people desire a sequel.

At least you've got Fast 9, eh Vin?

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
