10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Really Aren't Wanted

7. Fantastic Beasts 3

Face Off
Warner Bros.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them was a hugely exciting movie, bringing the wizarding world back to the big screen after a five-and-a-half year absence.

It didn't disappoint either, exploring a side of this universe that we'd never seen before, introducing several likeable characters, and setting up an intriguing plotline about Gellert Grindelwald, and his impending confrontation with the great Albus Dumbledore.

A sequel - The Crimes Of Grindelwald - followed in 2018, but unfortunately, it was a boring mess that featured too many storylines, several confusing revelations, and not enough action. The third film is underway, and is expected to open in July 2022.

Why It Isn't Wanted

For a series that started out with so much promise, it's extremely disappointing how things have turned out. That second entry was, again, not good, and this was reflected in its $650 million box-office haul - an impressive number at face value, but also a record low for the entire wizarding world franchise.

This is a series that doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it about Grindelwald and Dumbledore? Or is it about Newt Scamander and his fantastic beasts? There's no focus here, and as a result, everything feels half-baked.

The Crimes Of Grindelwald was a decline in every respect (box-office, critical response, quality) and when you combine this with the Johnny Depp recasting drama, Fantastic Beasts 3 is no longer an exciting movie - it's a movie that we have many reasons to be nervous about.
