There was once a time when the Fantastic Beasts franchise seemed poised for greatest, injecting the Wizarding World with a fresh sense of adventure and intriguing lore.

Ever since that first movie, though, the series has lost all meaning, becoming a needlessly complicated Harry Potter prequel with unearned fan service, rather than the unique fantasy tale it initially set out to be.

The Secrets of Dumbledore appears ready to continue this trend, with a story even more convoluted than the last. Considering how poorly the previous film performed both critically and commercially, this doesn't exactly bode well.

And all of this is without getting into the controversies surrounding production. From J.K. Rowling's social media output to Johnny Depp's firing and Warner Bros' internal struggles, it really feels like The Secrets of Dumbledore is doomed.
