6. Avatar 2... 3... And 4 (Maybe 5 And 6 Too)
Avatar may have made great use of 3D, but it also ushered in an era of appalling 3D conversions of movies that continue to plague cinemas to this very day (albeit not as much, but it took over a decade to reach that point thanks to James Cameron's record-breaking blockbuster).
It will have been thirteen years since Avatar first premiered when Disney releases the sequel, and Cameron is already putting the finishing touches on the third instalment. The plan is for at least one more to follow, and potentially another two after that. In other words, you're likely to spend most of the next decade watching the filmmaker's 3D world dominate cinemas.
It's a depressing thought, especially when Avatar was pretty unoriginal beyond how cool Pandora looked. With Cameron bringing back actors he killed off in 2009, this isn't looking like a world with much in the way of consequences, and it feels like these movies are only happening to promote Disney World's Avatar-themed land in Animal Kingdom.
Well, that and the fact the studio is likely hoping it will break more box office records. However, the interest in this franchise died away a long time ago...
