10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed
8. Return to Silent Hill
Return to Silent Hill is the third live-action adaptation of Konami's legendary survival horror video game franchise, and will be based on the series' fan favourite entry, Silent Hill 2.
Promisingly Christophe Gans, who helmed the original 2006 Silent Hill film, is back in the director's chair, yet despite how passionately he's fought to bring this project to fruition, it's tough to be optimistic.
For one, the first glimpses of footage make it agonisingly clear that Return to Silent Hill has been produced on a much lower budget than the original film, perhaps best evidenced by the widely-mocked wig Maria (Hannah Emily Anderson) is wearing.
Furthermore, the film wrapped shooting in February 2024 but won't release until January 2026, with Gans himself revealing that issues with executive producers caused major post-production delays.
Couple this with the fact that it spent more than a year in post-production before being acquired by a pair of small-time distributors - Cineverse and Iconic Events Releasing - and it really feels like the movie is destined to come and go without most people even noticing.
