10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed
5. The Bride!
The Bride! is a radical musical reimagining of James Whale's 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein, and given that it's being written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal - whose debut The Lost Daughter nabbed three Oscar nods in 2022 - and stars Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale, it immediately became a strong awards prospect.
Though originally set to release this coming September, the film has been delayed twice, shifting most recently from October of this year to March 2026.
Warner Bros. deciding to nudge the film out of an Oscar-friendly release date immediately has some concerned, combined with reports of numerous poor test screenings and the studio allegedly scrambling to fix it in post.
With word suggesting that The Bride! is a rather uncommercial retelling of Bride of Frankenstein, Warner Bros. is likely going to struggle to recoup their $80 million budget on this one, and going by the screenings reports, it sounds like it's going to be majorly divisive on the whole.
