10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Getting Oscar Buzz
4. Marshall
As has already been mentioned, Hollywood can't resist a biopic, particularly when it happens to be about a historical figure you can get behind as much as someone from the civil rights era, as you see here. And particularly in 2017, when publicists are eager to promote their film as "important" and something that is "more relevant than ever".
OK, despite this cynicism, Marshall does seem to tell a great story. It depicts the early legal career of Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court Justice in American history. And look, if you're ever going to find a time to release a movie about lawyers, judges, and the Supreme Court, it would be right now, when audiences are more than usually interested in politics, for obvious reasons.
The celebrated legal figure will be played by Chadwick Boseman, who many readers may recall as the Black Panther from the Marvel universe and also the main participant in the only scenes in Gods of Egypt that weren't terrible.
It will also star roughly half the main cast of Beauty and the Beast (OK, really just Dan Stevens and Josh Gad), along with everyone's favorite from This is US, Sterling K. Brown, and America's sweetheart circa 2001, Kate Hudson.
