10 Upcoming Movies That Have Already Pissed Fans Off
7. Superman: Legacy
James Gunn, quite unsurprisingly, has faced some backlash already surrounding his DCU decisions. Recasts and cancelled projects aside, easily the decision that has caused the most unrest within the DC fandom is how Henry Cavill was treated.
The actor's status within the DCEU had been uncertain really ever since Justice League, and the closest Superman came to a return for some time was a silhouetted cameo in Peacemaker. Gunn confirmed almost immediately however, that while Superman would be a big part of his DCU vision, it would not be Henry Cavill. Cue DCEU, Henry Cavill, and SnyderVerse fans in uproar.
This would have been a tough pill to swallow at the best of times, but coming just after Cavill had been reintroduced into the franchise in a Black Adam post-credit scene was insult to injury. David Corenswet may turn out to be an inspired choice as the new Man of Steel, but he will automatically lose points with some fans for not being Henry Cavill, as will the movie on the whole.
Superman: Legacy, in theory, should be a fantastic film. Written and directed by Gunn himself as something of a passion project, it has every chance to succeed. However, with someone other than Cavill as Clark Kent, it may struggle to win some fans over.
