10 Upcoming Movies That Have Just Been Delayed

Naturally, with the delay of the fifth Avengers film comes the knock-on effect that the sixth, Avengers: Secret Wars will also see a delay. Originally slated for May 2027, it will now release in December 2027, keeping the 12-month gap between the two.

When both projects were initially announced as The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, there was only planned to be six months between them. The former would have already released (May 2025), while the latter was supposed to release in November.

Though Doomsday is currently the most anticipated MCU outing thanks to the casting announcement, Secret Wars is just over that horizon, and will easily be the biggest and most ambitious undertaking that Marvel Studios, or likely any movie production has ever attempted. It will be the exclamation point to end the Multiverse Saga that began with WandaVision back in 2021, and after the run that the MCU has been on recently, this needs to be the home run to end all home runs.

According to Forbes, the reason for the delay of both Doomsday and Secret Wars is due to the sheer size of the productions, and likely the need to have a much better final VFX product than has been the case over recent years. In this regard, it may not be too surprising if Secret Wars is hit with further delays down the line, but surely this will be better than releasing an unfinished product.
