10 Upcoming Movies That Have Just Been Delayed

2. Avengers: Doomsday

It may not have had the same build-up as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame did in 2018 and 2019, respectively, but there is no question that Avengers: Doomsday is currently the most anticipated MCU film on the slate. Of course, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is on the horizon, but it ultimately all leads to the Avengers.

Whenever Marvel Studios sets out its plans for the immediate and far future, it rarely comes to fruition without a change or two. Phase Six is no different, as Avengers: Doomsday has been pushed back from May 2026 to December 2026.

For most movies, a six-month delay is little more than a bump in the road, done for any number of reasons, and a smaller one than many others have seen. However, this change affects the fifth Avengers movie in two very big ways.

Firstly, the upcoming fourth MCU-set Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, will now release before Doomsday. Tom Holland was one of the few names not on the back of the now-infamous Avengers chairs, but there's no question that the two outings will connect in some way or another. Secondly, with the release now coming on 18th December, Marvel Studios and Disney have set up the biggest clash since Barbenheimer, as Doomsday will hit cinemas the same day as Denis Villeneuve's long-awaited Dune 3.
