One of the biggest factors in getting bums on seats for a movie's opening weekend is how well it is marketed. Potential audiences need to know what's coming, and when it's coming, which leads to studios giving numerous updates on projects sometimes years before they are released.

What ramps up anticipation more than a casting announcement, a trailer, or, of course, a release date? It's exciting, but even as the calendars get marked, it must come with the caveat that no matter what is said, and how good the intentions at the time, that date is absolutely not set in stone.

There are so many moving parts to any movie production, and any of them could cause a delay, whether under the control of the studio or not. It's disheartening, certainly, but it is a part of the business and is actually sometimes for the best.

Some films have been hit with unexpected legal trouble, others have seen creative reasons and a wish to produce the best possible final product cause delays, while one movie on this list was pushed simply because the studio decided it fancied a different date better. Whatever the reason, the wait for the following ten pictures has just gotten a little bit longer.

Over the last decade or so, the movie industry has seen something of an uptick in the trend of musician biopics. The likes of Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, Elvis, A Complete Unknown, and many more have told the often embellished stories of world-famous artists, with arguably the most iconic entertainer ever coming up.

Michael is set to tell the story of Michael Jackson, with his nephew Jaafar Jackson playing the title role alongside the likes of Colman Domingo and Miles Teller, and will naturally aim to hit similar levels of success as Bohemian Rhapsody did seven years ago.

However, there have been issues off-screen that have resulted in the film being delayed multiple times. Initially set for an April 2025 release, Michael was pushed back to October, though another setback has landed it a new release date sometime in 2027.

This is a huge delay, and the fact that there isn't a concrete date set doesn't bode too well either. The reason for this massive bump in the road is that Michael Jackson's estate has banned any of the serious allegations made against the singer from being dramatised on film. This has reportedly led to Michael's entire third act having to be rewritten and reshot.
