10 Upcoming Movies That Just Got Delayed

It's still tough to believe that a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is actually happening, but it is.

In addition to Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) being hired to direct, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason have been cast in the roles of Link and Zelda respectively, with the release date initially set for March 26, 2027.

However, Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced in June that the film was being pushed back - but thankfully only slightly.

Miyamoto revealed that The Legend of Zelda will now release on May 7, 2027, roughly six weeks later than initially planned, citing "production reasons" for the delay - a vague phrase that basically means nothing.

It's quite likely that this is simply a business decision to get Zelda away from two prominent blockbusters releasing in late March 2027 - Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.

Furthermore, the announcement came just two weeks after Disney delayed Avengers: Secret Wars from May 7, 2027 to December 17 of the same year, so Sony Pictures and Nintendo were likely keen to leap on that now-vacant date.
