Release Date: December 25, 2015 And the award for least essential remake of all-time goes to... The original Point Break isn't even a great movie; it's a campy, hyperkinetic action romp that has surpassed its original shelf life due to the fact that a) it's campy as hell and b) it's campy as hell. That's to say, people who love Point Break love it ironically. To remake it in any way (and with no name actors such as Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey, no less) is an insult to both the original, the audiences and the poorly state of the movie business in general. Hollywood has been scraping the barrel for years with regards to remakes, but having reached a point in history in which a re-do of Point Break is legitimately hitting theatres at the end of the year, the death of cinema (and the original idea) has finally arrived. Although it makes sense to remake certain movies, this one tips the scale in the wrong direction entirely; it's almost embarrassing to inhabit a planet in which such a thing exists - and with a Christmas Day release, for God's sake! What were they thinking?
