10 Upcoming Movies That Nobody Asked For

7. Death Wish

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

The original Death Wish was very much a product of the 1970s, with a granite-faced Charles Bronson living out the wish-fulfillment fantasies of many regular Americans by taking the law into his own hands and dishing out vigilante justice in what was a hugely-controversial movie at the time.

Eli Roth's remake on the other hand, seems like the type of generic thriller that gets released on an almost monthly basis, with Bruce Willis playing the same type of character that we've seen him play a thousand times already.

Teaming an inconsistent director with an inconsistent star with a script from the inconsistent Joe Carnahan was never destined to work out particularly well, and early reviews haven't been too kind to the long-in-development remake. Whereas Death Wish holds up as a time capsule of both society and filmmaking at the time it was made, this year's version is likely to be forgotten in the space of a few weeks.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
