10 Upcoming Movies That Sound Utterly Insane

1. The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent

Nicolas Cage Trespass
Millennium Entertainment

The Elevator Pitch: Nicolas Cage plays Nicolas Cage, a washed-up actor who is forced to take down a Nicolas Cage superfan (and drug lord).

Just when you thought Nicolas Cage can't outdo himself on the unusual-ometer, along comes The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent.

The film will star Nicolas Cage as a fictionalized version of himself, a creatively-unfulfilled actor who needs a bit of cash. So, he accepts a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a Mexican superfan, but when things take an unexpected turn, Cage must become different versions of his most iconic movie characters, desperately trying to save his family from a dangerous situation.

The premise is obviously quite ludicrous, and while the movie might not be great, or even good, one thing's for sure: it's going to be insane.

How insane? Well, the finished product is apparently too much for Cage himself, who has flat-out refused to watch it due to its "highly-neurotic" portrayal of him:

"It’s just too much of a whacked-out trip for me to go to a movie theater and watch me play [director] Tom Gormican’s highly-neurotic, anxiety-ridden version of me. Because he kept pushing me in that direction... he said, 'well, neurotic Cage is the best Cage.' I said, 'okay, okay. Let’s go, man. I’ll do what you want.' I won’t see it. But I do hope you enjoy it."

If Cage can't handle this movie's level of Cage, then we're all in for a crazy treat.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
