10 Upcoming Movies With Troubled Productions
7. Bond 25
25 installments in a series is no small feat, but James Bond is set to join that elusive company. The effort has been far from smooth sailing, however, as the film has suffered substantial production issues.
Bond 25 was set for to debut in November 2019, but has been pushed back twice, landing on the current April 2020 target. The film has been plagued with issues with the screenplay and has underwent three confirmed rewrites.
The number of rewrites would be concerning enough, but what may be of greater issue may just be the number of people responsible for them. There are five credited screenwriters on this film, including Bond mainstays Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Director Cary Joji Fukunaga, The Bourne Ultimatum's Scott Burns and Killing Eve's Phoebe-Waller-Bridge.
All of these writers have their merits, but with this many cooks in the kitchen it will be difficult to create a cohesive product. This has been evident as rewrites continue as filming has already begun.
Daniel Craig recently suffered a minor injury on set, leading to a temporary suspension on production. The accident is only expected to result in a one week delay, which could give Fukunaga and other screenwriters time to fine tune the script. You never want anyone to fall to an injury, much less your star, but any extra time that could be given to the writing seems beneficial at this point.
