The Pitch: A young couple (Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots) are on the lookout for a starter home, and after following an enigmatic estate agent to a mysterious new housing development, they find themselves trapped in a maze of identical homes while inexplicably forced to raise a baby.

It's not much of a leap to suggest that the second feature from Lorcan Finnegan (Without Name) is a not-so-subtle satire of humdrum suburban existence, though American Beauty this clearly ain't.

Between the nutty sci-fi premise and presence of two stars with a knack for picking compelling indie projects, it's easy to be intrigued by this one - all the more so as the synopsis is so vague. Namely, where the hell did that naked baby come from?

Vivarium has been selected to debut at the International Critics’ Week sidebar of Cannes next month, with a VOD release likely to follow later in the year.
