10 Upcoming Sequels And Reboots That Will Destroy Your Faith In Cinema

5. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension

Ghostbusters 2016

The “final chapter” in the Paranormal Activity franchise, Ghost Dimension is being released two months after Sinister 2, which is ironic – going by the trailer, the movie rips off Sinister’s plot line about a man who gets more than he bargained for when he discovers another family’s home movies.

The Paranormal Activity films are basically micro-budgeted Amityville Horrors for the YouTube generation, and each new instalment has exactly the same elements as the last one: the characters are dull, a door opening by itself is a major plot point and the story really gets going in the last five minutes.

In the wake of three Insidious movies, The Woman In Black, The Conjuring, Annabelle and the god-awful A Haunted House pictures, is it not fair to suggest that, just possibly, repetition has dulled the effectiveness of these movies? Probably not, because The Conjuring 2 is due out next year.
