10 Utter Trash Horror Movies You Loved Anyway
2. Knock Knock
To be fair, several of schlock maestro Eli Roth's films could've made this list - certainly Cabin Fever, Hostel, and The Green Inferno - though by far the trashiest, sleaziest movie in his filmography is 2015's Knock Knock.
A home invasion flick with some devilish tricks up its sleeve, the film follows a devoted family man, Evan (Keanu Reeves), who answers his door one night to two beautiful young women, Genesis (Lorenza Izzo) and Bel (Ana de Armas), who seek refuge from the rain.
What begins as a sexy chance encounter for Evan soon enough devolves into something genuinely life-threatening, as the two ladies dangerously toy with their increasingly unwilling host.
Knock Knock basically has the plot of a porno on paper and the execution doesn't create much more distance from that association.
Roth gleefully leans into the salaciousness of the setup and has a lot of fun making the audience squirm as Evan's predicament becomes ever-more dire.
Izzo and de Armas are perfectly cast as the mischievous sexpots primed to ruin Evan's life, while Reeves commits fully to his own role, unforgettably screaming "It was free pizza!" in reference to his sexual indiscretion with the two ladies.
While you certainly can't accuse Roth of taking himself too seriously here, Knock Knock does at least manage to get under the skin, enough that you'll definitely want to take a shower afterwards.
