10 Watered Down Comic Book Movie Moments That Robbed Us Of Awesomeness

3. Topher Grace As Venom - Spider-Man 3

venomsized It was widely known ahead of release that Sam Raimi wasn't crazy about the idea of Venom starring in Spider-Man 3, which goes a way to explain how he managed to bungle the fan favourite character so horrifically. Though Eddie Brock's (Topher Grace) origin story is relatively faithful to the one from the comics, the main problem is with the casting; though Grace is a great actor, he's horribly suited for Brock, who is supposed to be a buff, hulking guy, rather than a stick-thin dweeb-type character. More to the point, the look of Venom is all wrong; whenever he speaks to Peter, his Venom face reveals back to show Grace's face instead (as above), draining the character of all his menace, simply because as hard as he might try, Topher just isn't all that intimidating. Oh, and then Venom gets defeated after a relatively weak, boring fight against Spidey, bested by the sound of some poles being smacked around.
