I mentioned earlier that Bryan Singer has a habit of taking some major liberties with the source material, and just like X-Men: Days of Future Past again putting the mutants in dull black leather costumes, the same looks to be the case in X-Men: Apocalypse. It may seem silly to say that we aren't going to be seeing the "real" X-Men because of how they're dressed, but that's how a lot of fans feel, hence why X-Men: First Class was so well-received when the team were put in their classic yellow and blue costumes despite the fact that the story actually took some major liberties with the comic book origins of the team. The trailer has already confirmed that the X-Men will be in more black leather, a major blunder on Singer's part, especially when the 1980s setting surely lends itself to some more unique fashion choices. It's certainly easy to be excited about the prospect of seeing new takes on classic characters like Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, but the filmmaker's apparent refusal to deliver the kind of fan pleasing nods and creative decisions that make Marvel so popular is likely to hold this release back in a big way. Even if that movie is an absolute masterpiece, the same complaints about Singer's vision are sure to be there. Do you have any concerns over the crop of 2016 superhero movies? Or do you think the whole lot will be brilliant? Share your opinions on all the releases down in the comments.
