9. Jaw-Dropping Visuals

Wakanda was an interesting mix of African nature and futuristic tech, but largely remained in similar-looking locations. Outside of a quick trip to South Korea, the film largely stuck to the same general Wakandan locations. This doesn't allow for great visuals, and once you recognize BP's amount of poor green screen moments, it can easily break any immersion.

In contrast, Aquaman is on another level with its visual prowess. Atlantis and all of its surrounding kingdoms were stunning to behold, with even the on-land sequences in the Sahara and Sicily proving to be vibrant and screenshot-worthy. No location was lingered on for too long and even with a film filled to the brim with CGI, every setting felt authentic.

James Wan and the effects team did exceptional work here. The use of color, inventive art direction, and superb camera work culminate in a final act that is the most visually stunning finale of any film in recent memory. Truly a visual feast for the eyes.
