10 Ways Matt Reeves Can Reboot Batman

2. Set The Film In The Future

If he truly wants to differentiate his Batman reboot, Matt Reeves could make like Frank Miller and shift the story to a near-future Gotham.

Zack Snyder drew influence from Miller's seminal Dark Knight Returns graphic novel with his seasoned depiction of the Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman, but links to the source material are tenuous, beyond the superhero fight scene.

A more literal adaptation of The Dark Knight Rises - not necessarily a page-by-page retelling - would make a memorable movie.

Think of the incredible events Reeves could bring to the screen, from an aged Batman recapturing his former glory on horseback, to the introduction of the first female Robin and that gruesome battle with the Joker at the funfair.

Reeves would probably have to nix Superman from the story to avoid revisiting Dawn of Justice territory, but the point still stands - The Batman could explore Gotham's near future and focus on a Caped Crusader emerging from retirement in a blaze of glory.
