10 Ways Star Wars Episode 8 Will Probably Rip Off Empire Strikes Back

9. Ghostly Instructions

In Episode IV, Obi-Wan continued to offer advice to Luke after his death, in a mystical voice-of-God kind of way. The Force Awakens resurrected this idea during Rey's lightsaber-induced vision sequence, which featured the voices of deceased Jedi through audio cameos from Ewan McGregor and Frank Oz. Now, just as The Empire Strikes Back upped its ghost game by including physical cameos from a semi-transparent Alec Guinness, it's possible that Episode VIII will expand the importance of dead characters. Maybe, as part of her Jedi training Rey will actually get to meet Obi-Wan and/or Yoda€™s Force ghosts. It does sound plausible that Luke will want some help with teaching Rey after his last attempt at training new Jedi crashed and burned so catastrophically. There€™s also the possibility for evil Force ghosts to appear. The Force Awakens teased this, by suggesting that Kylo Ren was capable of conversing with Darth Vader. Ben Solo begged his grandfather to show him the power of the darkness once again, tantalisingly teasing that a Vader Force ghost could appear at some point in the series (there was even a conflicted Anakin Force ghost concept designed for The Force Awakens).
