10 Ways Star Wars Episode 8 Will Probably Rip Off Empire Strikes Back

8. Jedi Training

Here€™s an obvious one €“ it seems incredibly likely that Episode VIII will feature Jedi training scenes. Rey will surely be the apprentice, and Luke the master. This would function as a big throwback to The Empire Strikes Back, where Luke was the pupil to Yoda€™s erratic teaching methods. Perhaps Luke€™s greenery-friendly exile homestead from The Force Awakens€™ final scene will function as the new Dagobah - the main locale of their lessons. We could see familiar beats playing out, with Luke deeming Rey too old to begin the training before reluctantly agreeing. As with Luke and the sunken X-Wing in Episode V, Rey€™s faith in the Force could diminish at one stage, leading to Luke showcasing his capabilities to bring her back on side. All fans would surely love to see how powerful he€™s become since Return Of The Jedi. Interestingly, though, Luke probably won€™t have the conviction of Yoda. His last set of pupils are all now dead or evil, which is bound to make anyone nervous. As with Kanan in Star Wars: Rebels, we could see Luke lacking in confidence as he attempts to train Rey. That could help add a fresh twist, as well as some important character development to the film.
