10 Ways Star Wars: The Last Jedi Was Almost Completely Different
9. One Character-Defining Captain Phasma Moment
We all know that Captain Phasma was completely robbed of some just-deserved screen time. Coming off The Force Awakens, fans were miffed that her two scenes amounted to a couple lines of dialogue and being thrown in a trash compactor - despite actress Gwendoline Christie saying the character would have a bigger role in Episode VIII.
Though what was cut doesn't necessarily give her any more story, it certainly would've given us a defining, timeless character moment for the saga: The killing of various stormtroopers by Phasma herself.
Coming after Phasma's helmet gets shattered by Finn's Z6 baton, he then gets surrounded by the rest of her unit - only to try persuading them into rebelling against the Captain's rule, like he has.
For a beat it seems to work, but just in that second we see all the troopers get gunned down, old western-style, by a string of Phasma's blaster bolts. The whole "disposable allies" thing is very Sergio Leone, and would've solidified Phasma as a stronger villain, exemplifying the "Join us or die" mentality that espouses both the Empire and First Order.
