10 Ways Technology Is Ruining Awesome Movies

1. 3D

Avatar Yes, it's that one technological "advancement" that everyone whines about, but that's just because it's been forced down our throats so giddily over the last 5 years. 3D is not the future of cinema; it is at best a gimmick that is occasionally implemented to immersive effect, but is largely a way for studios to grab more money from audience's pockets without often really delivering a worthy service in return. Though Avatar is almost unanimously cited as the best 3D film to date - and having seen it in the IMAX, I must agree - films such as Clash of the Titans have merely leapt on the 3D gimmick as an effort to bump their box office grosses. Indeed, Titans was rushed into tacky 3D-post conversion, and the result was a near-invisible 3D experience that too often looked the same whether you were wearing the glasses or slipped them off. It is a gimmick that will eventually have had its day, and the sooner it does, I feel the better. Which technological "advancement" annoys you the most? Let us know in the comments below.
