10 Ways That The Marvel Cinematic Universe Has Ruined Cinema
9. The Superhero Genre Feels Saturated
There are 29 superhero movies scheduled for release within the next 6 years. No matter how you look at it, that's a lot of movies. Too many, perhaps. It's the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which has inspired the movie studios to pump a huge amount of money into superhero flicks, of course; that, coupled with the mainstream success brought on by the likes of other Marvel properties such as Spider-Man and the X-Men, and the fact that Christopher Nolan's Batman movies penetrated the pop cultural sphere to an insane degree, means that the studios are keen to cash in. But do people really need such a huge abundance of superhero movies? Isn't the genre becoming a little less interesting with every unnecessary addition to the superhero motion picture canon? You could certainly argue so. Especially when so many of them offer little in the way of innovation, but are happy to settle, instead, for lazy and formulaic plots.
