10 Ways The Marvel Multiverse Could Kill The MCU

3. It's Too Similar To What DC Is Doing

Some will argue that Marvel Studios beat Warner Bros.' DC Extended Universe to the punch with the way Avengers: Endgame unfolded, but it's hardly a secret that a Flashpoint movie has been in the works for a while now. That shouldn't dictate what Marvel does, of course, but there are some similarities moviegoers will struggle to ignore.

In 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Sorcerer Supreme will reportedly travel through the Marvel Multiverse. In 2022's The Flash, the Scarlet Speedster will reportedly travel through the DC Multiverse. Luckily for Marvel Studios, they're beating the DC movie to cinemas by several months.

Despite that, comparisons will be hard to ignore. If DC does it better, then that will hurt Marvel moving forwards; if DC doesn't do it better, then moviegoers could find themselves turned off by the idea of continuing to explore any alternate realities in future comic book movies.

It's a tricky situation, and while there could be a winner when these two Multiverses go head to head, it's entirely possible that Marvel Studios could be stuck in a lose/lose situation.
