5. The Initial Mistakes With Anakin Skywalker
For now, with Phantom Menace as a template, we know why Luke was way too old to begin the Jedi training in the Original Trilogy. As per the Jedi rules, even eight year olds were pushing it age wise. We know that Obi-Wan wasn't a natural when it came to being a master to a young apprentice and wasn't 100% committed to the idea of this chosen one. We also get a sense of why taking on Luke had to be something that happened naturally, rather than being a journey thrust upon him like Anakins early Padawan days turned out to be. Over the next few articles, the mirroring steps of Anakin and Luke will be covered more in depth but after Episode I, we know that Anakin has stepped into an order that didn't really want him in their ranks, with a master who only took him on through a commitment to his own fallen teacher. Basically, we know Anakin isn't getting the best education and lining this up alongside the Original Trilogy, Luke had an even worse start. But maybe this was the key to how events turned out
