X-Men: Apocalypse: 10 Ways To Ensure It's The Best In The Series
7. Time Travel Needs To Be Involved
Apocalypse and time travel almost go hand in hand in the X-Men universe. In the comic books and the animated series he seems to always be involved with a plot that revolves around tinkering with the timeline. Also, during the ending of Days Of Future Past we find Wolverine waking up in the present time (or the future, whatever) to find that everything is hunky dory. We see Iceman, Rogue, Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Beast, Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Xavier alive and well. While this most definitely a fitting ending, it strikes all the right emotional chords and its quite effective, it also sort of shoots itself in the foot. If X-Men Apocalypse takes place in 1983 and we've already seen the future then we already know that everything is going to be just fine. For as much as a global threat Apocalypse is, the X-Men seemed to have come out of it unscathed. Granted the events would happen decades earlier and a lot can happen between that time but still. With time travel in play, anything is possible. Anybody can get killed. Whether or not to have Kitty Prydes subconscious time travel or physical time travel in play is debatable.
