4. Jay and Silent Bob - Scream 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLZE2r8IvoE Product placement isn't a new thing in films, but advertising another of your studio's films within your film certainly is, and also seems quite crafty - even savvy - on the part of the studio. Though Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was not in actual production while Scream 3 was, a bit of brand awareness never hurt anybody, so keeping the dynamic duo in our minds in the year-and-a-half while Kevin Smith shot the film was likely the cunning thinking behind it. Still, it doesn't exactly feel crass because while it's incredibly shoe-horned and the reference will be lost on a lot of Scream fans, it is really quite funny. As fastidious reporter Gail Weathers (Courtney Cox) walks across the Miramax lot, Jay and Silent Bob stroll past, poining Weathers out incorrectly as Connie "f******g" Chung, and asking her how Maury (Povich) is. It's a nice moment in a frankly underwhelming horror sequel, and true to form, director Wes Craven returned in kind by having a great little cameo in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
