10 Weirdest Footballer Cameos In Movies
3. Ian Wright - Gun Of The Black Sun
For reasons that are, frankly, beyond me, Ian Wright starred in a movie described as ‘‘a fun fantasy adventure that centers on a ruthless megalomaniac’s ambition, has furious car chases, fast motorbikes, and a Luger pistol linked to the Third Reich"... and it went under everybody's radar.
Even more unbelievable than this though is that Ian Wright's performance in the film was easily the most critically lauded element of the entire movie. Where the plot and direction got labelled as "not a classic", his debut role was picked out as reason alone to bother watching the thing.
In some circles, anyway. Other outlets labelled it as "manic" or "a bit much" and encouraged him to stick to punditry duties or making fun of Alan Shearer on Twitter. Why not do both, I say!
Either way the movie sadly didn't pave the way for a rich career in acting, and almost a decade after its release remains his solitary outing in the dramatic arts.
