10 Weirdly Distracting Moments In Recent Movies
4. The Seven Dwarves - Snow White
Disney's live-action remakes may largely be met with negative reviews, but in terms of box office success, things are a little more hit-and-miss. However, the 2025 Snow White was successful neither critically nor commercially.
The reboot of the beloved 1937 film was panned by critics and failed to cover its reported budget of $240 million at the global box office. There were controversies both off-screen and on-screen, which is something that plagued the picture throughout its entire run.
One of the most obvious aspects that audiences didn't connect with was the appearance of the seven dwarves. Following Peter Dinklage's comments criticising how Disney was playing to negative stereotypes, Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey were instead created using CGI, and the results were awful.
Surely, the entire point of these remakes is to bring the stories to life in as realistic a way as possible. This was done by The Lion King, even to the point that any and all personality and emotion were removed from the animals. If that is the aim, then Snow White underwhelmed spectacularly when it came to the dwarves, and if that is not the aim, then why produce a remake in the first place?
