8. Quaritch Was A Secret Human Avatar In The First Movie - Avatar: The Way Of Water
There are a lot of theories doing the rounds about Avatar: The Way of Water right now, but perhaps the most brilliantly bonkers of the lot involves the nature of Colonel Quaritch's (Stephen Lang) role in the film - and better yet, a recontextualisation of his part in the original Avatar.
It was recently revealed that Quaritch is a "Recombinant" in the film - a Na'vi Avatar who has had the memories of the human Quaritch implanted, yet a barmy theory picking up an odd amount of traction online suggests Quaritch was, get this, also an Avatar in the first film.
Yep, you read that right.
The rumour posits that there will be a big reveal in The Way of Water that the real Quaritch was remotely piloting a prototype human Avatar of himself in the first movie. It sounds ridiculous, even dumb, and yet also amusingly unhinged enough that it just might be true.
