10 Woefully Miscast Actors In Comic Book Movies

2. Jessica Alba As The Invisible Woman - Fantastic 4/Fantastic 4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

Expectations were high prior to the release of Fantastic Four in 2005, given that this was Marvel’s ‘first family’ and one of its hottest properties since the team’s emergence in the 1960’s. Unfortunately, the goofy family-orientated nature of the film and its sequel did not sit well with fans, which is why we were treated to the super-serious (and somehow even worse) remake in 2015.

One of the many problems with Fantastic Four and its sequel was the casting of Jessica Alba. Seen as the heart of the family, Susan Storm aka The Invisible Woman is intelligent, emotional and caring, usually acting as the buffer between the group when they have disagreements.

Alba displayed none of these characteristics and is mainly there, it seems, for her looks, and buying her as a genetics researcher (even in glasses) was difficult. She barely has any interesting lines and even when she is asked to display some emotion her delivery is poor and uninspriring.

The fact that her superhero name is ‘The Invisible Woman’ really was fitting for her performance in both of these films given how little influence she has on either of them.
