10 Women Who Should Be The Next James Bond
6. Daisy Ridley
Every pick so far on this list can be neatly summarised as "this person is an amazing actor, and if this role was available to them they'd be really, really good at it". I can't really say that bout Daisy Ridley with an entirely straight face though.
I, like you and I suspect all for your little friends, loved The Force Awakens. Sure it had its imperfections and problems, but for pure enjoyment in the cinema you're going to struggle to top it until Episode 8 comes out. From the special effects, to the story, to the innumerable nods to the original trilogy, there were so many wonderful moments - but the performance of its leading lady wasn't quite one of them.
But that's precisely the point. Ridley's portrayal of Rey was a bit on the awkward side, and had more than a hint of that wide-eyed big-smile Keira Knightley delirium about it, but in her action scenes she was outstanding. As recent as 10 years ago, Rey would have been a character that was carried through the plot by the men, offering little more than wise-cracking obstruction to her capture. In 2016 though se didn't' even need rescuing.
It's simultaneously how much arse she kicks and the imperfections in her delivery that make her perfect for Bond. How better to relay the brash cheesiness of the spy genre and her license to kill mantra than with an actress who excels at both.
