10 Women Who Should Be The Next James Bond

7. Natalie Dormer

There have been few actors on planet earth who will have enjoyed the last two years more than Natalie Dormer. After getting her (sort of) big break as Anne Boleyn in the BBC production of the Tudors, the meteoric rise of Game of Thrones has seen her elevated to one of the biggest stars on Television. Her role as Cressida in the Hunger Games also gave her legitimacy as an active action star, rather than the passive supporting player.

Next year's Patient Zero release sees her in a leading role of a major thriller, and a successful transition from scene-stealing bit-part to first-name-on-the-poster puts her in the best position of her career. She's already become a big name without getting top billing, once she has that she's likely destined for mega-stardom. Plus, y'know, she's a brilliant actress, which helps.

Critically though, her recent guest spot on CBS show Elementary provides a strong precedent for this sort of role. Taking on the iconic part of Moriarty - Sherlock Holmes' legendary nemesis - she's already proved that she can take a figure with huge historical significance, and move them simultaneously in a new direction, and across the gender border.

Jamie Moriarty demonstrated that, of all the various components that go into great character development, whether or not they leave the toilet seat up isn't one of them. Ergo; actually, I'm going to stop doing that now.
