One of the biggest mysteries from the very beginning of Loki on Disney+ revolved around the Time Variance Authority. More specifically, its creators. Who were the Time Keepers, were they even real, and would Loki ever get the chance to meet and overthrow them?

In episode four of the outstanding series, Loki and Sylvie found themselves face to face with the mysterious beings, and even though it was soon revealed that they were robots and not real, they were still laughable to look at.

They were created by He Who Remains as something of a decoy, so in the manner of the narrative they were still supposed to be convincing. Until one had its head chopped off to reveal the wiring inside, neither Loki nor Sylvie suspected anything, and these are Gods and Goddesses of Mischief.

Up until this point, the series had forced audiences to immerse themselves into the world of the TVA, but this almost forced them back out again. Paired with the fact that they were impossible to understand without subtitles, the Time Keepers could have done with a complete redesign from square one before Loki ever made it to Disney+.
