10 Worst Effects In Sci-Fi Movies
3. Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
Let's be real, this film was never going to win any awards was it?
With that being said, each of the films from the original Indiana Jones trilogy had extremely solid visual effects that really stood out against the backdrop of more traditionally shot films from the 1980's.
Whether you enjoyed the gore fest that was the face-melting Nazis or the rapidly ageing face of the scheming, err, Nazi, this franchise had a long and reliable history when it came to drawing its audience in with its wacky effects.
But then things just got a little bit too wacky.
While we as the viewer felt engrossed by watching the spirits swarm from the Ark of the Covenant, we were actively embarrassed when we saw Shia LaBoeuf swinging like a Stretch-Armstrong Tarzan through the trees surrounded by laughably unrealistic monkeys. Or when the skull itself reattached to the head of the most generic looking alien seen outside of the front of a packet of Space Raiders crisps. The one saving grace of the effects on this film was the moment the Russian soldier was engulfed by a swarm of ants.
And god forbid I even mention the fridge scene...
