10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2025 (So Far)

8. Wolf Man

After co-creating Saw and directing the deeply underrated Upgrade, there's no doubt Leigh Whannell has left his mark on the horror genre. And after the success of The Invisible Man, Whannell turned his sights to another iconic Universal Monster, the Wolf Man.

Even though An American Werewolf in London is deemed The GOAT of the genre, Whannell's track record proved he could concoct a werewolf feature that was just as iconic.

But when a design for the titular lycanthrope appeared online, skepticism started to seep in (even if that turned out to NOT be the final appearance of the creature). Having said that, Whannell isn't known for dropping the ball, so there was hope the monster's appearance would be fixed by the time Wolf Man was released.

But not only did the ferocious furball arguably look worse in the finished product, the creature feature itself is deeply underwhelming. Ironically, Wolf Man is superb at building suspense and tension... until the protagonist starts his transformation. Despite Whannell's best efforts to interweave family drama with body-horror, it doesn't come together, due to the ill-timed scares and formulaic structure.

Considering the project has been in development hell for a decade, horror veterans were hoping Wolf Man would be a hit. Although it's not atrocious, Wolf Man is one of most disappointing films of the year so far.
