10 Worst MCU Villains Of 2021

9. Ikaris (Eternals)

Lizard Spider-Man
Marvel Studios

There have been many powerful, cosmic beings introduced into the MCU over the years, but it is Ikaris the Eternal that is Marvel’s answer to Superman. So much so that the Man of Steel was even referenced in the movie by Phastos’ son.

Richard Madden’s character had the potential to bring a lot to the table in Eternals. He was the most powerful of the alien race, and his allegiance to Arishem was so strong that he was brought to blows with the likes of Makkari, Phastos, and Sersi over the fate of the Earth. However, for lack of a better term, the character was simply boring.

Aside from his unwavering devotion to his creator, he had no real personality, and absolutely no charisma. His struggle could have been a focal point of the movie, instead of him simply being a blind follower with barely a thought of his own.

This is all without delving into the painfully boring backstory he shared with Sersi. One of the common, and fairest criticisms of Eternals is that the movie was far too long. The entire plot thread going back through his past with Sersi could have been dropped altogether and the movie wouldn’t have suffered for it in the least.
