5. The Residents Of Apartment 5 (The Lords Of Salem)
When it comes to Rob Zombie's films, just about everyone would be a bad neighbour. No one really wants to live near serial killer crowns and giant, mute slashers after all. The folks in apartment 5 take the cake though thanks to their disgustingly selfish habit of playing noisy, annoying music way too late into the night. It's a cardinal sin in apartment buildings and one that simply can't be tolerated.
To add some horror to the all-encompassing annoyance, they also have a penchant for causing ritual suicide. Seemingly empty at first, apartment 5 is actually inhabited by Satanic witches and a monstrous demon out to impregnate the main character, Heidi. In typical Zombie fashion, the film is loud and grisly, a hideous mix for anyone stuck living in the same building as these otherworldly menaces.
If there's one thing nice to say about apartment 5, it's that the interior decorating is top notch, way more impressive than any other home we see in the film. This atmospheric occult thriller has several thematic similarities to Rosemary's Baby without any of the subtlety. The same goes for the neighbours who are blatantly, in your face evil and supernatural from the get go.
