10 X-Men Characters That Deserve Their Own Movie

7. Cable

cable Always armed with a ridiculously oversized gun, Cable is the time-travelling mutant also known as Nathan Summers. Cable€™s first appearance was in The New Mutants, when 90€™s €˜extreme€™ artist Rob Liefeld took over the main title. Since then, Cable has supported many of his own series, and he has been a major player in most X-Men events. Of course, when you look at Cable, it€™s easy to see that he is a quintessential product of the 90s. He has it all; the techno-organic arm, the nonsensical glowing eye, an overabundance of pouches (thanks Liefeld), and the convenient ability to possess both telekinesis and telepathy. Nonetheless, Cable would be a perfect candidate for Fox. Since his birth, the character has been fleshed out rather nicely by various writers, such as Fabian Nicieza (Cable and Deadpool), and Duane Swierczynski (Cable). In these various runs, he has been a leader, a messiah and interestingly enough, a father figure. It€™s about time Cable made an appearance, because the Summers family are such a prominent part of the X-Men. A movie telling the story about Cable€™s attempt of becoming a troublesome messiah could go down quite nicely, and it could even be a good excuse to shoehorn Deadpool in. Swierczynski€™s run on Cable tied in closely with a few X-Men events, as it told the story of the telepath travelling throughout time to protect the mutant saviour Hope, from the clutches of Bishop. Cable the soldier, eventually became Cable the nanny. It was an interesting turn of events for the time-traveller and in a movie, it could have the potential to support some amazing visuals. Of course, the right director would have to be at the helm, so here€™s looking at you, John Woo.
