10 X-Men Characters The Movies Totally Wasted

8. Kitty Pryde

A fan favorite in the comics since her first appearance in 1980, Kitty Pryde has appeared in four of the X-Men movies and been played by three different actresses, but has never been given much to do. Despite the pitch-perfect casting of Ellen Page for The Last Stand and Days of Future Past, the character became lost in the shuffle amongst the sprawling cast of mutants. After brief cameos in the first two movies, Kitty was bumped up to one of the main players in Brett Ratner's threequel but is one of the main casualties of an over-stuffed story. There is one brief scene where she gets to show off her mutant powers during a run in with Vinnie Jones' Juggernaut, but in effectively breaking up Iceman and Rogue, causing the latter to seek out the mutant cure, the character doesn't come off as particularly likeable. Things got even worse for poor Kitty when the iconic Days of Future Past storyline was adapted for the big screen; in the source material she is the one who gets sent back in time due to her projection abilities, but in the movie she uses her powers to send the much more popular Wolverine back to the 1970's and spends the vast majority of her brief amount of screentime with her hands on Hugh Jackman's forehead.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
